Charlotte and Gavin's Wedding, Allerton Castle.

Ever since Charlotte and Gavin booked their wedding photography, I have been really excited about it. Some venues just have so much creative potential and Allerton Castle is one of them. Also, photographing friends is always so exciting and emotional! Charlotte and Gavin are so relaxed and fun that I knew it would be a great wedding to shoot.
Charlotte and I visited Allerton Castle a few days before their wedding day to do some preparation work for the photos and to have a good look around at all the rooms they would be using.

Allerton Castle is an impressive Gothic revival stately home, built by The Lord Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton, the premier Baron of England as a monumental statement of his position within the English aristocracy. It's a beautiful venue.
On the morning of the wedding, Charlotte was getting ready in the Palace Suite with her Mum and Bridesmaids Lisa and Hannah.
The weather had been terrible all week and I was hoping that we would be able to make use of all the gardens and grounds and that guests would be outside for drinks and canapés. So I had my fingers and toes crossed for them.

After Charlotte made her celebrity entrance by carefully navigating the Grand Stairs, they were married in a very special, emotional ceremony in the Great Hall.
Then it was outside into the sunshine! Guests mingled in the Memorial Gardens and it was a lovely atmosphere. After the Wedding Breakfast , which was served in the fabulous Ballroom, the 3 of us disappeared  outside for more photography. There was gorgeous low evening sunlight which gave a fantastic glow and atmosphere to the shots. I was very excited and could have easily spent most of the evening on a huge photo shoot. However, there was an evening party to attend so we stayed out right until the last minute to make the most of the time then made our way back in.
Here are a handful of shots from the day.

Thank you so much Charlotte and Gav, I had a brilliant day. Congratulations.

Steph and Richard - Pre Wedding Shoot

I finally got to shoot Steph and Richards pre wedding photos on Sunday afternoon after postponing due to the continuing awful weather.
It was a last minute, "lets see how it is later" arrangement and it really paid off. We went up onto Addingham Moorside in the evening and we got great light and low evening sunshine. It was lovely. Nice to see some blue sky for a change. After the rain and storms the air was really clear and the Wharfe valley looked fantastic.

Sarah and Thomas - Wedding

On Saturday, Thomas and Sarah were married at Haworth Church at 1pm. I knew the weather forecast was terrible, but we ignored it all morning. The Bridesmaids did a great job of periodically looking out of the window and updating the "looking brighter over there" forecast.
Arrival at the church was beautifully timed as the sun broke through the black clouds and Sarah walked into Church in the sunshine.
Sarah looked fabulous, her gown was really pretty and I loved the purple shoes!
After the ceremony we took a few photos inside the Church as the rain was so heavy we couldn't leave the Church! Everyone patiently waited inside for a break in the weather, and then made a dash for the reception whilst the Bridal Party stayed for photos in the lovely arched doorway.

The newly married Mr and Mrs Ogden were determined to brave the rain for photos at the reception. We armed ourselves with umbrellas and then the sun came out. We made the most of the gap in the weather and got some gorgeous shots around the gardens.

Congratulations Thomas and Sarah!

Megan's Prom Night

So I spent last Wednesday evening shooting a pre prom party for Megan at her family home. Around 35 of her friends and their parents were invited to the house for drinks and photos before a vintage double decker bus arrived to whisk them off to the school.
Thankfully the weather stayed dry and bright so everyone could mingle outside.
Everyone looked amazing in their dresses and suits. Megan looked beautiful and I got some stunning portraits of her in her emerald green floor length gown.
